OK, so what is Wolfpaper?

Everything you might want to know, and a bit more...

I like to change the background image on my desktop from time to time (often that can be defined as daily) and I enjoy creating and using my own images. I have lots, and I do mean LOTS, so I might as well use them. ;-) The background image on a computer screen is often called 'wallpaper' and well, nearly all of my images are of wolves so I came up with the name 'Wolfpaper' -- pretty simple when you think about it.

Well, back in '97 when I started making my own wallpaper, um, I mean Wolfpaper, friends kept begging me to e-mail my latest creation. That small mailing list quickly evolved into something that maybe was not quite best described as monstrous proportions, but was large enough that sending pictures was unwieldily and difficult to handle.

Waldemar to the rescue.

A very good e-mail friend, Waldemar Dworakowski, who lives in Poland has a server. He very graciously offered me space and help with the mailing list. It has taken quite some time, but we now have quite the list, and quite the resource of Wolfpapers past. How it works is simple. I simply send a bunch of images and their accompanying text from Indiana where I live, to Poland where Waldemar lives. They then get cued up in the server and are sent out on a fairly regular basis all over the world.

As the list continued to grow, I began to realize that it needed something spiffier, something demanding a domain name. I did some searching and found wolfpaper.com was taken. Other domain name extensions were available, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how cool it would be to get a Polish domain name extent ion. Not an easy task mind you. But with WD's help, I got the domain and well, the rest is history.

Today about two Wolfpapers go out a week. I often include news about wolves, both here at Wolf Park and current issues involving wolves around the world. I also sometimes describe the creation process in making the image, which can include anything from what camera and lens I used, to how I might have manipulated the image on the computer. Of course most just ignore that bit, but for some it is interesting all the same.

Keep in mind that these images are © Monty Sloan / Wolf Park and are only for personal use as wallpaper on your desktop. Please check out the Terms of Use page for more details. For web site or any other use please check out my photo resource pages.

You can also purchase actual prints. All of my images came from scans made of photographs I have taken. A few are digital creations, but even those are from very high resolution originals and print very nicely to 8x10 and even quite well to 11x14 sizes. If you are interested in anything, please inquire, or check out www.wolfphotography.com where I sell my prints on-line!

How to use Wolfpaper on your desktop? Follow the simple instructions on the how to use page.

Remember, if you like what you see, we are really a non-profit organization in every sense of the word. If you are interested in supporting us or sponsoring a wolf, please check out the Wolf Park membership or wolf sponsorship pages. THANKS!

Again, for more information, please check out the How to Use page.
